In the case of children and adolescents, the process begins with a visit to their parents or caregivers so that they can explain everything what seems relevant to them about the history and current situation of their sons or daughters.
Once this first meeting has taken place, the child or adolescent is visited during the first sessions, between 2 and 4, in order to understand what their current situation is and what theirsignificant experiences have been like throughout their vital development. At the point where we feel that I have understood everything that is necessary, I would explain my understanding of what could be done to improve the discomfort that one may be experiencing.
Lastly, parents or caregivers would be notified again to report on the initial assessment process. These initial interviews do not have to commit to beginning with a psychotherapeutic process. In the event that everyone agreed, the process would begin trying to establish from the outset what objectives they would like to achieve and to be able to review whether they are being achieved.
After the initial process, visits are made periodically with the parents or caregivers to report on the evolution of the adolescent child.
